FIDESCO, the international Catholic solidarity organisation based in Austria, was represented by Mr. Ferdinand Mayer during the celebration of the 70th birthday of Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike and the 40th anniversary of the Catholic Institute for Development Justice and Peace (CIDJAP). The event gathered religious leaders, development partners, academics, and humanitarian organisations to honour the enduring contributions of Msgr. Ike and the impact of CIDJAP across different communities.
During the celebration, recognition was given to the Vocational Technical Training Centre (VTTC), one of CIDJAP's key initiatives dedicated to youth empowerment through technical and vocational education. Over the years, VTTC has benefited from the financial and technical support of FIDESCO, helping the institution strengthen its training programmes and expand opportunities for young people seeking practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
The partnership between FIDESCO and CIDJAP continues to reflect a shared commitment to education, human dignity, social inclusion, and community development. CIDJAP expressed appreciation for the longstanding collaboration, noting that such international support has contributed significantly to the growth of VTTC and the broader mission of CIDJAP in promoting justice, peace, and transformative development initiatives.
