Olu Aka Di Mma VTTC held a one-day workshop/seminar titled: Promotion of Vocational Training in Vocational Technical Training Centre, on Wednesday, 26th April 2023. This auspicious event started with an opening Mass at about 11 a.m. The Holy Mass was officiated by Very Rev Fr. Wilfred Agubuchie, the diocesan chancellor/secretary, as the chief celebrant and three other priests as concelebrants.
In his homily, emphasizing on the readings of the day, he stated that Christ is the bread of life, which one takes and never thirsts again. He then admonished us to seek Christ, who is the bread that will last forever. He said that Christ made himself available, Cheap and easy, in the form of bread that can reach everybody. The homily was very touchy and comprehensive.
The event was honoured by the following dignitaries: His Lordship, Most Rev. C.V.C Onaga, ably represented by Very Rev Fr. Dr. Wilfred Agubuchie, the diocesan Chancellor/secretary; Rev. Fr. Chidiebere Paul Ani., Deputy Director CIDJAP; Rev. Fr. Ambrose Ofodile, Former Deputy Director CIDJAP and the Director Radio Maria; Rev Fr. Peter Agu, Assistant Parish Priest St Patrick Catholic Church Ogbete Enugu; Rev Fr. Peter, Verbum Network Director, Mrs Nneka Ada – Senior Development Officer Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Enugu; Metu S C.-State Officer NABTEB Enugu; Werner Ilg and Ferdinand Mayer, VTTC foreign partners from FIDESCO Austria, and many others. The event was also graced by the students and teachers of College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu, St. Monica‘s Comprehensive Secondary School, Ogui Enugu and St. Patrick’s Secondary School Coal Camp, Enugu.
At the end of the Mass, everyone present settled down for paper presentations. At this point, the Deputy Director of CIDJAP, Rev. Fr. Paul Chidiebere Ani, on behalf of the Director and Founder of CIDJAP, Very Rev. Monsignor Obiora Ike, welcomed all the participants in a special way. He particularly appreciated Ferdinand Mayer and Werner Ilg for their good work in the Enugu diocese and Africa at large. He equally extended his regards to Hugo Oelz, who has been one of the leading sponsors of Olu Aka Di Mma projects from Austria and prayed to God in his infinite mercy to restore his health.
At the event, VTTC's newly constructed classroom blocks were officially blessed and commissioned by the diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Wilfred Agubuchie and other priests.
The VTTC coordinator welcomed everybody present with a well-presented address.
At this juncture, the paper presentation on the theme: “PROMOTION OF THE VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN VTTC” was taken by Mrs Nneka Ada, Senior Development Officer; Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Enugu, where she noted the importance of vocational training and the needs to promote it.
The second speech was given by Metu Susan Chigozie, NABTEB State officer, Enugu. Metu explained the relevance of skills in the lives of the youths. Her speech was also very educative and impactful to the participants.
The event was brought to an end at about 4 p.m. with a closing prayer by Rev. Fr. Peter the director of Verbum Network, CIDJAP.
